Sam Koenig drove in the winning run to give the Madison Mallards (7-6) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Madison Mallards hung on to beat the Eau Claire Express (3-10) 3-1 on Saturday.

After Tate Matheny was hit by a pitch, Koenig came to the plate with the score tied at one in the sixth inning, and reached on an error, plating Matheny.

It was a good day at the plate for the Madison Mallards' Matheny. Matheny went 1-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the second inning.

Jamie Nunn got the win for the Madison Mallards thanks to five strikeouts. Nunn allowed no earned runs, four hits and two walks over five innings.

Ed Brandsema (0-1) took the loss for the Eau Claire Express. He lasted just six innings, walked five, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
