Four first-inning runs helped the Lakeshore Chinooks (5-4) to a 5-3 win over the La Crosse Loggers (5-5) at Kapco Park on Friday.
The Lakeshore Chinooks would not relinquish the lead as the La Crosse Loggers were unable to weather a four-run first inning deficit.
The La Crosse Loggers scored three runs in the fourth on a fielder's choice and a hit by pitch. Still, the La Crosse Loggers couldn't catch the Lakeshore Chinooks.
Chris Manning was solid at the plate for the Lakeshore Chinooks. Manning went 3-5 and scored two runs. He singled in the first and fourth innings and tripled in the seventh inning.
David Lucroy improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Lakeshore Chinooks. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out seven, walked three and surrendered three hits.
Josh Frye was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out 10, and allowed four runs.
