While the Willmar Stingers (8-5) hung tough on Thursday, the Thunder Bay Border Cats (6-8) pulled away late for the 12-4 victory at Bill Taunton Stadium.
Cory Kay did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Thunder Bay Border Cats, reaching base five times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the second, fourth, and ninth innings.
Chris Kerwood recorded his first win of the year for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. He allowed four runs over six innings. Kerwood struck out six, walked two and gave up seven hits.
Tyler Hamer was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
