The Thunder Bay Border Cats get key pinch-hit in 13-11 victory over the Willmar Stingers

Tyler Duplantis was cold coming off the bench, but Duplantis warmed up quickly as Duplantis stroked a key pinch-hit single in the one to lead the Thunder Bay Border Cats (4-3) to a 13-11 win over the Willmar Stingers (3-3) on Sunday at Subway Field.

With the Thunder Bay Border Cats leading by two in the first inning, Duplantis came to the plate and singled.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 24 total runs and 26 hits during the game. Both bullpens were busy with 10 pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.

Michael Foster carried the Thunder Bay Border Cats' offense and pitching in the victory.

Foster reached base five times. He scored four runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first, second, fourth, and fifth innings.

Foster looked sharp on the mound. The Willmar Stingers managed just two hits off of the the Thunder Bay Border Cats' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his 1 2/3 innings of work.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats held off the Willmar Stingers, as the Willmar Stingers were unable to overcome a 10-run fifth inning deficit.

The Willmar Stingers scored on a groundout by Jake Gronsky, an RBI double by Bobby McCormack, a hit by pitch, a two-run single by Tyler Leffler, a two-run double by Steven Brault, and an RBI single by Gronsky in the seventh inning and an RBI double by Max Kuhn in the eighth inning. Unfortunately, the Willmar Stingers weren't able to take the lead back.

Even though Kyle Cornett allowed five runs over 2 1/3 innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. Cornett struck out none, walked three and gave up four hits.

Zack Tillery was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats pounded the Willmar Stingers pitching, as six hitters combined for 12 hits, 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
