Steven Brault kept the Thunder Bay Border Cats (0-1) off the board during his six innings of work and the Willmar Stingers (1-0) beat the Thunder Bay Border Cats, 7-1.

Brault struck out eight and allowed two walks and two hits.

The Willmar Stingers' bats came to life in the second inning. The Thunder Bay Border Cats had no answer as the Willmar Stingers scored four runs.

Kyle Perry racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Willmar Stingers. He singled in the first inning, homered in the second inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.

Chad Mayle ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked four and struck out four.
