A.J. Simcox went 2-3, helping the Matsu Miners (5-2) to a 7-2 victory over the Peninsula Oilers (1-2) on Friday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.
He singled in the first and sixth innings.The Matsu Miners relied on Ty Schlottmann to eat up innings en route to the win. Schlottmann allowed two earned runs, six hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.
Kyle Hunt had two extra-base hits for the Peninsula Oilers. He doubled in the first and second innings.
Billy Strode was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
