Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Wednesday as the Pittsfield Suns (11-14) outscored the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (8-15) 17-9.

The teams totaled 31 hits in the game.

The Pittsfield Suns stamped out any hope for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs with eight runs in the eighth.

John Kinne racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Pittsfield Suns. He doubled in the eighth inning and singled in the seventh and ninth innings.

Mike Geannelis improved to 3-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Pittsfield Suns. He allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered five hits.

Rob Bertucci (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in two-thirds of an inning, walked one and struck out none.

The Pittsfield Suns hammered the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 14 hits, 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
