The Alexandria Aces (16-9) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 3-1 ballgame against the Baltimore Redbirds (19-13) on Saturday at Calvert Hall HS.
A two-run single by Logan Hoggarth gave the Baltimore Redbirds the lead in the fourth inning.
Alex Robinson kept contact to a minimum, striking out three the Alexandria Aces batters. Robinson allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over five innings.
Brandon Burris paced the Alexandria Aces at the plate. Burris went 2-3 and scored one run. He singled in the third and fifth innings.
Brian ONeill was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out seven, and allowed three runs.
