A six-run explosion in the fifth inning lifted the Bethesda Big Train (17-4) to an 8-2 win over the Gaithersburg Giants at Criswell Automotive Field on Monday.
It was a good day at the plate for the Bethesda Big Train's Ryne Willard. Willard went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth and ninth innings.
Kit Scheetz put together a nice outing. The Gaithersburg Giants (15-11) managed just one hit off of Scheetz, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his three innings of work.
Zach Morris got the win, running his season record to 2-3. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered four hits.
Kyle Colgain couldn't get it done on the mound for the Gaithersburg Giants, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
