The Southern Maryland Nationals (8-5) beat the Gaithersburg Giants (6-6) 9-1 on Monday at Criswell Automotive Field after a five-run explosion in the sixth inning.

Kyle Pitts racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth innings.

The Southern Maryland Nationals got the win thanks in large part to Tyler Badamo's dominant, eight-strikeout performance. The Southern Maryland Nationals' pitcher gave up just five hits over five shutout innings.

Kyle Colgain (0-2) took the loss for the Gaithersburg Giants. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
