An ace performance by Joseph Vanderplas lifted the Vienna River Dogs (5-4) to a 2-1 win over the D.C. Grays (5-6) on Friday at Hoy Field.
Vanderplas picked up the win for the Vienna River Dogs. Vanderplas pitched nine innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks while striking out seven.
Greg Olenski had a hot bat for the D.C. Grays. Olenski went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Henry Sisson couldn't get it done on the mound for the D.C. Grays, taking a loss. He lasted just eight innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
