A seven-run explosion in the fifth inning carried the Bethesda Big Train (10-3) to an 11-5 win over the Rockville Express (6-6) at Shirley Povich Field on Thursday.
Johnny Cole paced the Bethesda Big Train at the plate. Cole went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
The Bethesda Big Train relied on Zach Morris to eat up innings en route to the win. Morris pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out two.
Joseph Strain (1-1) took the loss for the Rockville Express. He allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out two.
