Collin Shaw brought home the winning run to give the Gaithersburg Giants (3-2) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Gaithersburg Giants hung on to beat the Southern Maryland Nationals (2-2) 3-0 on Friday.
Josh Ingham singled to get on base in the seventh. He then went from first to second on a groundout by Jay Knight.Ingham racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Gaithersburg Giants. He singled in the seventh inning and homered in the eighth inning.
Nick Riley looked sharp on the mound. Riley held the Southern Maryland Nationals hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
David Sapp ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
