The Herndon Braves survive the D.C. Grays 7-3 thanks to Carroll's late-game heroics

Tyler Carroll brought home the winning run to give the Herndon Braves (2-6) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Herndon Braves hung on to beat the D.C. Grays (3-2) 7-3 on Friday.

With the score tied at three, Carroll came to the plate and hit into a fielder's choice, bringing home Tom Woodruff.

Woodruff went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the Herndon Braves. He singled in the second inning and tripled in the fourth inning.

The D.C. Grays couldn't get anything going as long as Jerrod Leinhauser was on the mound. The D.C. Grays managed just one hit off of the the Herndon Braves' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his 3 2/3 innings of work.

Tyler Moody improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Herndon Braves. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Cameron Lundmark (0-1) took the loss for the D.C. Grays. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
