DJ Miller drove in the go-ahead run to give the D.C. Grays (3-3) the lead in the ninth inning, as the D.C. Grays hung on to beat the Southern Maryland Nationals (4-2) 8-6 on Sunday.
After Desmond Stegall doubled, Miller came to the plate with one out in the ninth and reached on an error, bringing home Stegall.The Southern Maryland Nationals couldn't get anything going so long as Scotty Ward was on the hill. The Southern Maryland Nationals managed just three hits off of the the D.C. Grays' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out two during his five innings of work.
Thomas Murphy recorded his first win of the year for the D.C. Grays. Murphy struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.
Ben Jarboe ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
