The La Crosse Loggers (1-0) beat the Wisconsin Woodchucks (0-1) 14-6 on Monday at Athletic Park after a nine-run explosion in the ninth inning.
Brandon Bednar helped the La Crosse Loggers pull ahead for the duration in the ninth inning. Richard Prigatano singled to start the ninth. He then went from first to third on a double by Bobby Juan. Finally, Bednar came to the plate with the La Crosse Loggers trailing by one, and singled, plating Prigatano and Juan.
Bednar racked up three RBIs on three hits for the La Crosse Loggers. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the ninth innings.
Zach Wright got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Wright struck out three, walked one and gave up two hits.
Pascal Paul ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in zero innings, walked one and struck out none.
