The Grand Lake Mariners (12-22) and the Licking County Settlers (20-15) both had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was the Grand Lake Mariners that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-2 win at Don Edwards Field.
A bright spot for the Licking County Settlers in the defeat was Kyle Turner, who allowed only two runs while striking out seven.
Scott Houdek improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Grand Lake Mariners. Houdek struck out one, walked one and gave up one hit.
Patrick Kinney (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed one run.
