Peter Bowles brought home the go-ahead run to give the Rockville Express (23-9) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Rockville Express hung on to beat the Vienna River Dogs (20-14) 6-1 on Monday.
Johnny Cole singled to start the sixth. He then went from second to third on a single by Christian Wolfe. Finally, Bowles came to the plate with the score tied at one, and hit a sacrifice fly, bringing home Cole.Cole paced the Rockville Express at the plate. Cole went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Quinn Saunders kept contact to a minimum, striking out five the Vienna River Dogs batters. Saunders allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk over five innings.
Josh Herzenberg couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Vienna River Dogs, taking a loss. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
