The Fort Worth Cats (20-16) shut the door early on the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (20-16), capturing a 13-7 victory on Sunday at LaGrave Field.
The game was decided quickly as the Fort Worth Cats exerted their will early with nine runs in the first three innings.
An RBI single by Chad Gabriel, a groundout by Shelby Ford, an RBI single by CJ Beatty, an RBI single by Derek Marshall, and a two-run single by Jon Dziomba during the first inning and an RBI single by Ford and a two-run home run by Brandon Jones in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Fort Worth Cats.Ford racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Fort Worth Cats.
Francisco Santana did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings, reaching base three times. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Even though Trevor Harden allowed five runs over five innings he still recorded the victory, his second of the season. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered six hits.
Coleman Stephens (3-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed nine runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out one.
