Down four runs in the sixth, the Brantford Red Sox (17-3) recovered thanks to Tyler Patzalek's double in the eighth, and pulled out a 9-7 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs (9-11) on Sunday at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

With the score tied at four in the eighth inning, Patzalek came to the plate and doubled, plating Jason Gotwalt, Terrell Alliman and Dwayne Bailey.

The Brantford Red Sox staved off the Toronto Maple Leafs as the Toronto Maple Leafs were unable to match the Brantford Red Sox down the stretch.

The Toronto Maple Leafs scored on a sacrifice fly by Rob Gillis in the eighth inning and an RBI single by Branfy Arias and a sacrifice fly by Jordan Castaldo in the ninth inning. Still, the Toronto Maple Leafs couldn't catch the Brantford Red Sox.

Lee Delfino racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Brantford Red Sox. He homered in the seventh inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.

Brian Speck got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over two innings. Speck struck out two, walked one and gave up one hit.

Brett Lawson (0-4) took the loss for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He allowed six runs in one-third of an inning, walked none and struck out none.
