D1 celebrates senior night

The West Virginia ACHA D1 hockey team fell on senior night, losing 8-3 to the John Carroll University Blue Streaks.

 

Seniors Ashton Adamek, Kris Cecere, and Justin Hickey were honored in a ceremony before the game.

The Mountaineers opened the scoring with 10:21 left in the first period when Brendan Bolduc scored an unassisted goal.

However, the Blue Streaks tied the game with 5:33 left in the first, and then took the lead a minute and 35 seconds later.

 

The Mountaineers tied it up just 27 seconds into the second period as Jake Moleski found the upper right-hand corner of the net on an unassisted goal, but John Carroll took the lead again a minute and 20 seconds later.

 

A flood of goals for John Carroll then happened as a goal with 13:22 left in the second was followed up 36 seconds afterwards and then just 24 seconds later after that to make the score 6-2.

 

A goal with 3:11 to go in the second period extended the Blue Streaks lead to 7-2.

 

A goal with seven minutes left in the third period made the score 8-2.


The Mountaineers got a third goal with 4:49 left in the game when Moleski scored his second unassisted goal of the game

The Mountaineers regular season is over, but they will continue their season in the playoff a few weeks from now.
