Derby, Kan. -- In a true roller-coaster outing, it was the Derby Twins with the last laugh in a 12-8 win over the Kingman Islanders last night (July 18) at Panther Park.
The Twins led 7-2, only to have the Islanders strike for four runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to surge ahead 8-7.
But the Twins had the final answer with a four-run eighth inning to jump back on top and Nate Hardcastle held the Islanders off the scoreboard from there to pick up the win.
Brady Bell was the Twins' starter and went five innings, allowing two runs and fanning seven batters.
Karson Klima did a little bit of everything for the Twins, going 4-of-5 at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI.
Justin Harris also had three hits for the Twins, while Jace Russell homered and drove in three runs for the Islanders. The Islanders also received three hits and three RBIs from Hogan Shelby.
Derby (25-12) will now be at Kingman (16-19) tonight with a 7 pm first pitch.
