Defenseman Luke Moore earned rave reviews from the Eagles coaching staff and he is set to return for his second season with the organization.
“I felt Luke learned and grew a lot last season. He is coachable and can play any position,” Head Coach/General Manager Steve Haddon said.
The Cheyenne, WY product entered main camp last season as a forward, but quickly transitioned back to defense in order to help NoCo address a logjam at the forward position. The Eagles were rewarded with 41 games and 6 points from the stay-at-home defenseman and Moore is ready to once again be a key cog for NoCo.
“I had a great experience last year and learned so much from the coaching staff,” explained Moore.
“I want to grow and develop as much as I can this year,” he added.
During the second half of the 2021-22 season, Moore’s all-around game allowed him to be one of a handful of Eagles players that saw time at both forward and defense. Including the postseason, Moore missed just one game while alternating between right wing and defense.
Head Coach Steve Haddon loved what he saw from Moore up front to end the 2021-22 campaign and can’t wait to see what the upcoming season has in store.
“Having talked with Luke this offseason, we both feel forward is where he finished strongly in the playoffs. I also felt like he looked more confident and comfortable up front,” relayed Haddon.
Moore joins a growing crop of returners (Wammes, Barbeau, Fielman) from last season’s 29-win, Mountain Division finalist squad.
“The Eagles recruit a good group of guys and have great facilities and I’m looking forward to becoming the best player and teammate I can be,” explained Moore.
“We feel like he [Luke] is coming into his own and will have a strong season,” added Haddon.
For the 5’7, 155-lb forward/defenseman, the hopes for a strong season don’t just reside in the individual realm.
“I want to make it to Nationals and bring a championship to Colorado,” he declared.
Entering their 10th season of existence, the Eagles have graduated over 100 players to college commitments in the United States (NCAA) and Canada (U-Sports), as well as professional contracts abroad. Eagles’ alumni dot the hockey landscape; playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), Poland and Sweden.
