The Oswego State ACHA Hockey Program is excited to announce they have hired Tyler Ellor as the team’s assistant coach. Tyler is fresh into coaching after a successful 4 year playing career as a goalie at Johnson and Wales University (NCAA DIII), appearing in 17 games with a .935 save percentage and 2.61 goals against per game. Tyler will be attending Oswego for the next two years as a Graduate student pursuing a Master’s Degree in School Psychology. When asked about the opportunity, Ellor had this to say, “I am extremely excited to be joining Oswego’s ACHA Hockey team this season. I look forward to working alongside Coach Hyde and the rest of the staff to create a hockey team rich in character and culture. Giving back to the hockey community after completion of my playing career has been a goal to achieve and I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to coach at Oswego.”
Coach Hyde believes Tyler’s experience and motives will fit well into the culture and philosophy of the team, one that should be competitive for an NECHL Championship and a trip to the ACHA National Tournament in March 2022.
“Tyler is a guy whose name came into the mix right away. During our first conversation, I knew Tyler would be perfect for the job. His playing experience and background in Psychology fits perfectly into the culture of the program and should translate well to the players and student staff. Tyler will work heavily with the goalies and defenseman to ensure they are tough for opposing teams to play against. On behalf of the entire Lakers organization, we are grateful and excited to have Tyler on board!”
The Lakers have just announced their Prospect Skate for August 30 and Tryouts for September 6-8. The 2021-2022 schedule should be announced in the next week or two. Be sure to follow all social media pages for updates and announcements!
