The Northern Colorado Eagles are proud to announce the signing of forward Luke Moore for the 2021-2022 season.
The Cheyenne, Wyoming native excelled for the Northern Cyclones in 2020-21, registering 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 25 games for a solid campaign in his first year of junior hockey.
Moore is another new Eagle that joins the team and gets to reunite with a longtime friend.
"I am excited to join an organization with a winning culture and strong competitive environment. I am also excited to be reunited and play alongside my long time friend Zane Pickel," said the newest Eagle.
Head Coach/GM Steve Haddon uncovered Moore, thanks to a referral from Pickel, as well with a recently graduated Eagle alum.
"Early this spring, Luke was skating with some of our alumni and Zane. Brennan McFarland who played three seasons and was an all-star this season and is headed off to NCAA Saint Michael' s in Vermont. He [Brennan] told me that he thought Luke would be a good fit in our organization; I watched some of Luke's games and had some good conversations with him," relayed Haddon about the Eagles who tipped him off.
The 5'7" and 160 pound forward tries to model his game after Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin. Head Coach/GM Steve Haddon believes the speed and puck handling of Moore are evident and appreciates the rarity of reuniting childhood friends at this level.
"Luke see's the ice well and has a strong ability to make plays which is a big part of our identity. We want to be a fast puck moving team. He is training hard this off-season with Zane and I tell players this all the time it's special to play with a former teammate when you get reunited or if you get to play with your brother or cousin, it is rare in the junior hockey world. We had all those scenarios here which again is special," concluded Haddon.
Main camp opens August 25th and if you are a player that is interested in joining the Eagles organization for the upcoming year, please email Coach Haddon at haddon@northerncoloradoeagles.com.
