Peterborough, ON—Today Canada entered the quarter finals against Team Germany. It was the first time Canada played Germany in the 2019 Women’s Lacrosse U19 World Championship. Canada came out with a win of 21-1.

“We were firing on all cylinders. On offense we got into a good rhythm that started from the draw. We gained possession, Jordyn was controlling the draw circle, we outworked them on the circle,” said Scott Teeter, head coach of Team Canada.

“We ran our sets and we didn’t go for the first looks. We slowed the game down a bit, where we were looking for the second, third, or the wide-open looks.”

Canada played a strong offensive game, with a score of 11-1 at halftime. A large crowd for both Canada and Germany came out to cheer on the teams.

Annabel Child scored for the first goal of the game, while Kylea Dobson, Eve Hritzuk, Bianca Chevarie, Nicole Perroni and Shonly Wallace also scored multiple goals for Canada. Brooklyn Walker-Welch and Raegan Wilson were also in on the action, with many assists throughout the game. Since it is coach Emily Boissonneault’s birthday today, the team has lots to celebrate this evening after another strong game.

Team Canada’s next game is tomorrow against England at 8 p.m. ET.

“Tomorrow is going to be a battle,” said coach Teeter. “Anytime Canada and the English play, it comes down to the wire. It seems like it was a long time ago that we saw them, about five days ago. Both teams will be ready. Both teams know each other now because coaching staff have been scouting all week.”

Canada is the defending gold medal champions from 2015. They are working hard to defend their championship title.
