There were some new faces on the field this weekend at the Mid Island Pirates double header against the Victoria Mariners.  With a contingent of Senior Pirates in Arizona for spring training the opportunity arose for a handful of Junior Pirates to get their feet wet and face some senior pitching.  Coach Radix says it was a "glimpse into the future for both the players and the coaching staff" as to what can be expected when these players move up to the senior squad.
 
This coming week these juniors will experience another rookie first: recording profile videos for Field Level.  Field Level is an online recruiting network that is instrumental for those pursuing collegiate baseball.
 
The next time you can see the Mid Island Pirates Junior team in action will be Saturday, April 6 when they take on the Victoria Mariners.  First pitch at the 3rd Street Fields is noon.  Can't wait that long for a baseball fix?  You can catch the senior team in action this Saturday when they take on the Ladysmith Pilots at Dogwood Field.  Check facebook for updated game times later in the week.
