Mount Brydges, Ontario – The Bulldogs hit the road this past weekend. With stops in Port Stanley (Friday) and Thamesford (Sunday), the team were looking to gain some improvement to their 1-7-0 record.
On Friday night, the boys traveled to Port Stanley to take on a Sailors outfit that was in fine form heading into the weekend. The Sailors and Bulldogs had met once prior to Friday’s clash on September 29 – the Sailors took that game by a commanding score of 7-0. The Dogs will have to wait until Friday, November 3 to claim a victory over the high-sailing Sailors as the Dogs were downed by a score of 7-3 and fell to a 1-8-0 record heading into Sunday’s tilt with the Trojans.
A noteworthy effort for the Bulldogs was displayed by Tanner Lafrance as the veteran potted a hattrick for the Dogs in the losing cause. Nolan Blewett (2 G 2 A), Dawson Cook (2 G 2 A) and Brady Allen (1 G 2 A) lead the way for the Sailors in the points department. Goaltender Ryan Langford earned himself the win in the crease.
A different and more positive story-line would come out of Sunday’s festivities as the Bulldogs traveled to Thamesford to take on the Trojans. The Dogs came into Thamesford looking to erase a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Trojans a week ago.
Four first period goals by Ryan Hopkins, Justin Cheng, Patrick Keogh and Jacob Smith would propel the Dogs to a 4-0 lead heading into the second period.
The second stanza saw five goals as the Trojans would add three to the game via tallies from Spencer Mills, Lucas Ojero and Garrett Hickey. The Bulldogs responded with two tallies of their own via veteran examples from Tanner Lafrance and Patrick Keogh. The scoreboard in Thamesford read 6-3 for the Boys from the Brydge after two.
A power play goal by Daniel Stretton would push the Bulldogs to a 7-3 lead in the final period. Paul Lee would reply for the Trojans. An eleven goal Sunday night thriller in Thamesford saw Bulldogs lift themselves over the Trojans by a 7-4 final.
Veterans Patrick Keogh (2 G 1 A) and Daniel Stretton (1 G 2 A) lead the Bulldogs on the stats sheet while goaltender Morgan Reed is credited with the win. Newly acquired goaltender Logan Vermunt also action versus the Trojans.
