Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

March 21, 2017, 6:30pm

Meeting was called to order by Garrett McPherson at 6:45pm.

Minutes from the February 2017 board meeting were approved.

Garrett informed the board that Rocky Zachary has resigned his board position due to personal reasons.  He hopes to be able to participate next season.

Draft/Workout. 

• Sunday, April 9 at West Albany HS at Noon. 
• Chris and Bran will head up the workout. 
• We should be good to go rain or shine unless it is pouring.  The turf football field can be available if needed. 
• There are currently nine players registered with each of the divisions represented.  With 2+ weeks to go, many more registrations are expected. 
• A Craigslist ad is up in both the Corvallis/Albany and Salem areas. 
• Garrett will send a reminder to all teams around April 1 to remind them of the workout and league dues.
• Louie will send an email to any players from the 2016 New Player Pool that were not picked up last season.  Andrew will provide the list.

Team numbers for 2017.  Currently registered: 2 (18+), 3 (30+), 4 (40+). Expect up to 18+: 8 teams, 30+: 6 - 7 teams; 40+: 6 teams.  If both 30+ and 40+ have six or more teams, finding fields is going to be a bigger issue than usual.  Louie will send out registration and payment reminders to the 30+ league with a warning that the league may fill up and to encourage early registration.

Back Dues. A number of players from last season that still owe back dues have registered for 2017.  Garrett will contact the players and manager to make them aware of the back dues policy. 

Fields.

• Insurance certificates are being procured by Garrett. 
• It was reported that the field at Jefferson HS looks good this year. 
• Williams Field in Corvallis has been reserved for a number of dates in June and July.
• Goss Stadium at OSU is available for two dates in mid-July for $750/night.  Due to the cost there was no interest expressed from the board. 
• Garrett will work to get updated field costs from David and put together a spreadsheet.  It was agreed that teams may have to give up “home” games if their field is considerably more expensive than other available fields.

Pointstreak.  Registration system is up and running.

Scheduling.  Scheduling will begin in April.  Due to the number of teams in the 30+ and 40+ divisions, we may need to explore weekend and/or early start (6pm) games for those divisions.

Interleague Games with Portland MSBL.  The Portland MSBL would like to schedule interleague games with the 18+ league.  Two weekend doubleheaders.  One home and one away.  Garrett will continue to explore this with Nick.

Fees. $250 team deposit due by April 9 workout to preserve a spot in the league and participation in the draft.  First half of league fee due May 1.  Balance to be paid in full June 1.  A fee (the MSBL national fee: $25-$30) will be charged for each player added to a team’s roster after 15 players have been added.  Andrew will try to get this integrated into the registration system.

Next Meeting.   Garrett will schedule a meeting in mid to late April with the hope of better attendance from the board.
