Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

February 15, 2017, 6:30pm

Meeting was called to order by Garrett Mcpherson at 6:35pm.

Minutes from the January 2017 board meeting were approved.

Preliminary team numbers for 2017.  18+: 6 teams, 5 confirmed; 30+: 4 – 6 teams; 40+: 4 – 6 teams.  If both 30+ and 40+ have six teams, finding fields is going to be a bigger issue than usual.

Fields.  Holland, Keizer, Sprague HS, South Albany HS, Silverton HS, and Turner City Park are confirmed.  Need to confirm West Albany HS, Williams Field (Corvallis), Amity HS, Barrick Field.  North Marion HS was mentioned as a possibility.  Always looking for other good places to play.

Draft/Workout.  Sunday, April 9 at West Albany HS (to be confirmed by Andrew).  Chris and Bran will head up the workout.

Advertising. Craigslist and Facebook were discussed as probable outlets to recruit new players to the league.

Pointstreak.  David and Andrew have been unable to coordinate a time to meet with Pointstreak.  They will hold a conference call with Pointstreak to get things in order with the goal of having the registration system online by early March.

Roles and Responsibilities.  Garrett wants to have clear objectives for the league commissioners and other board members.  Commissioners will handle scheduling and be the first point of contact for league specific issues.  Garrett will coordinate all umpire scheduling.  Vice president will head up the discipline committee.

Fees. $250 team deposit due by April 9 workout to preserve a spot in the league and participation in the draft.  First half of league fee due May 1.  Balance to be paid in full June 1.  A fee (the MSBL national fee: $25-$30) will be charged for each player added to a team’s roster after 15 players have been added.  Andrew will try to get this integrated into the registration system.

Back Dues. Any player that is determined to have unpaid team fees from a previous season will not be permitted to register until the back dues are paid in full.  Approved unanimously. 

Next Meeting.   Tuesday, March 21, 2017, 6:30pm at Battlecreek Clubhouse.
