The Smiths Falls Jr. Bears post-season light just got a little brighter after last night’s win over the Kanata Lasers in CCHL league play in Kanata.

The Bears rallied from a 3-2 second period deficit to charge back in the third with four unanswered goals to take the much-needed 6-3 win.

It was a full team effort for this win, with most of the team getting on the score sheet.

Kris Lalonde started things off in the first for the Bears with his goal from Marc Shannon and Tre Folkes at the 12:13 mark.

In the second, Kanata’s Bennett Stockdale was unassisted to tie it up at 2:36.

Alex DiCarlo, assisted by Brian Bygrave and Ryan Gibson responded to take the lead once again at 4:49.

But Kanata’s Samuel Bitten made good on the power play to tie it up at the 12:05 mark, then took the lead at 19:35 with Peter Sigouine’s goal.

It wasn’t until the third, at the 4:04 mark that Smiths Falls started their comeback, as Stuart Harley had the equalizer, assisted by Hart and Michael McKenney.

It was DiCarlo with the winner at the 7:04 mark, assisted by Bygrave and Scott Gervais.

Two more goals were scored by the Bears to seal the 6-3 win in the third.

Kyle Dowdall scored 11:10, assisted by Michael Larose – who is a welcomed sight back from the DL – and Cole Busschaert. McKenney finished things off at 12:47, assisted by Ethan Coltart and Hunter Garlasco.

The Bears outshot their opponents, 34-31 with Bradley Dobson earning the win in nets.

Smiths Falls had just five minor penalties to Kanata’s three.

Game stars were DiCarlo and McKenney for Smiths Falls, and Sigouin for Kanata.

The Bears are in Brockville tonight to take on the Braves, who have clinched the number six spot.

Smiths Falls is sitting in the seventh spot with 55 points and two games left. Cumberland and Nepean are at 52 and 51 respectively.
