A tough 10 minute span in the 2nd period cost the Bears today as they lost 6-3 in Kemptville to the 73s.
Kemptville jumped ahead 1-0 at the 57 second mark of the 1st period as Derek Osik scored on Brad Dobson (Moose Factory ON). The Bears settled down and outshot the 73s 15-10 in the 1st period but were unable to beat Peter Brooks. The Bears took 3 of 5 penalties recorded in the opening period.
The Bears broke out early in the 2nd period as Ryan Gibson (Sydenham ON) scored his 6th of the year from Tre Folkes (Scarborough ON) & Cole Busschaert (Kingston ON) at the 44 second mark. Kemptville took over the period and scored 4 straight goals between the 8:147 mark and the 18:37 mark of the period as they oushot the Bears 25-7. Kemptville took the 5-1 commanding lead while taking 3 of the 5 penalties awarded.
Bo Taylor (Stitsvile ON) replaced Dobson in the Bears net to start the 3rd period. For the 3rd consecutive period a goal was scored before the opening minute had concluded as Busscahert scored his team leading 24th of the season on the powerplay at 0:44. Brett Garvey (Ashton ON) & Matthieu Franche (Cumberland ON) drew the assists. Joe McGrath scored at 10:07 to put Kemptville up 6-2 before Garvey scored the final goal at 15:33. Garvey's 8th goal of the year was assisted by Michael McKenney (Smiths Falls ON) & Kris Lalonde (Almonte ON). Kemptville outshot the Bears 14-7 while the Bears took 4 of the 6 penalties taken in the final period.
