Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

November 7, 2016, 6:30pm

 

Attendees: Ben Ward, WVMBL President

                    Garrett Mcpherson, WVMBL Vice President

                    David Winstead, WVMBL Treasurer

                    Andrew Koll, WVMBL Secretary 

                    Nick Elliot, 18+ Commissioner

                    Kevin Palmer, 40+ Commissioner

                    Rocky Zachary, League Member


Board of Directors.  Ben Ward has decided to step down as president in 2017.  Current board members will remain in place until the first meeting of 2017 when a new board will be elected.  David, Andrew, Kevin, and Nick have agreed to continue in their respective positions in 2017.  Garrett would accept a nomination to be president in 2017 if Ben agrees to help with the transition (he will).  Rocky would like to be an at-large board member and shadow David in order to take over as treasurer in the future.

Other league members that have expressed interest in joining the board in 2017 are Louis Banuelos, Chris McKay, and Bran Holmes.  They will be invited to the inaugural 2017 board-of-directors meeting.

Treasurer’s Report.  David provided the following update:

  1. For the season, the league as a whole had a surplus (profit) of $2,586.  The league’s financial standing is healthy
  2. No fees from prior season(s) were incurred
  3. The 18+ division had a surplus of $1,590, 30+ had a surplus of $700 and 40+ had a surplus of $747
  4. Total cash on hand is $4,082.  The league transferred $2K into a savings account and will be used as a reserve.  The main checking currently has a balance of $2,082.
  5. David will provide a preliminary 2017 budget for approval at the next meeting.

2016 Season Review.  The 2016 season was informally reviewed and everyone agreed that it was a successful season.  There were fewer unsportsmanlike behaviors than in years past.

Discipline Committee.  Discussion was held regarding the discipline committee that did not come together in 2016.  There were a couple of incidents that would have benefited from a seated committee.  A better effort will be made in 2017 to have a committee in place prior to the start of play.  It was suggested that the league Vice President head up the committee.

Next Meeting.   Wednesday, January 18, 2017, 6:30pm at Battlecreek Clubhouse.
