Q&A with ICHC All Star Selects

How does it feel to be chosen for an All-Star tournament in Europe?

Brock: Amazing.  It is very rewarding and it’s an absolute honor to represent not only the ACHA but Ball State, especially because Ball State has only had a team for 3 years.

Stevie: It’s pretty amazing, it’s an honor that the ACHA thinks so highly of me to be chosen.  It’s an honor to my school to be chosen and it’s exciting to be the first one chosen from my school.

How do you feel the competition will be?

Brock: I think it’ll be highly competitive.  I played in Sweden for a year with the USA Select Team and that was highly competitive. Based on that, good and fast paced hockey.

Stevie: Probably going to be the toughest competition I’ve ever played in.  Europe has some of the best competition, I’ll be up against the best of the best.  I’m really looking forward to it.

Who has been a role model to you?

Brock: My brother.

Stevie: My grandfather.  He’s the one who used to go with my mom to 6AM practices. And still tries to come to as many games as he can even though he’s 5 hours away.  He’s always a role model, not only in hockey, but in life in general.

Do you have a favorite hockey memory?

Brock: Too many.  Probably either playing in Sweden for the USA Select Team or scoring the game winner against Shadduck-St Mary’s when I played for Culver on Senior Night.

Stevie: Winning International Silversticks.  It was really cool because it was my midget minor year so it was a really big stepping stone in my career so far.  It was up in Ontario; it’s definitely a game I’ll never forget.

What's your favorite hobby outside of hockey?

Brock: Anything outside and anything that gives me adrenaline... motorcycle, dirt bike, skydiving, paint balling, any of that.

Stevie: Golfing. Typical hockey player answer, but I worked at a golf course in high school.  During the summer when I’m not working I try and get out as much as I can with my dad or some friends.
