Kelly Kapp Named COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior outfielder Kelly Kapp(Freeburg, Ill./Gibault Catholic) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after hitting .500 with two runs scored in two games at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash.

Kapp went 2-for-4 in each game with a run scored in both contests in the trip out west for Bradley Softball.  Against Seattle, she scored a run in the first inning to give the Braves an early 1-0 lead and also had an eighth-inning single in an extra-inning setback to the Redhawks.  Kapp had hits in each of her final two at bats to help highlight Bradley’s 7-6 comeback victory against Boise State after the Braves fell behind 6-0.  She is now hitting .579 on the year with 33 hits and 17 runs scored in 17 contests.  A nursing major, Kapp owns a 3.08 cumulative grade point average.  
  
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Kapp and the Bradley softball team head to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for the Southeast Games Saturday and Sunday.  The Braves will open play Saturday with an 11 a.m. game against Eastern Illinois.
