Murdock nets hat trick, leads Deer Lakes to 8-1 win over Armstrong - JV

Ryan Murdock netted a hat trick to lead Deer Lakes over Armstrong - JV, 8-1.

Murdock notched his first tally 6:41 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:38 into the second and at 4:14 into the third.

Armstrong - JV was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Deer Lakes was able to score four times while on the power play.

Deer Lakes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Armstrong - JV to score on any of its four power plays. Armstrong - JV was unable to stop Deer Lakes from sending pucks towards the net, and Deer Lakes eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Deer Lakes bested its season scoring average. This season, Deer Lakes averages 3.8 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Deer Lakes also got points from James Mastran, who also registered one goal and one assist, Sam Holland, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Bradley Luniewski, who also had one goal and one assist. Michael Mlinarcik also scored for Deer Lakes. More assists for Deer Lakes came via Hunter Mravintz and Dylan George, who each chipped in one and Alexander Sallade and Brandon Blough, who contributed two each.

Armstrong - JV did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 10 shots on net to force nine saves.

Armstrong - JV was led by Blair Green, who scored the team's only goal. Green scored 54 seconds into the third period to make the score 6-1 Deer Lakes. Jesse Toy provided the assist.

Brandon Loncaric rejected nine shots on goal for Deer Lakes. Deer Lakes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Luke Brison made 23 saves for Armstrong - JV on 31 shots. Armstrong - JV incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
