The Napanee Raiders relied on the scoring touch of Aidan McFarland, who netted two goals, to beat the Amherstview Jets, 7-4.
McFarland scored at 12:20 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Amherstview and again while on the power play 7:14 into the second to make the score 3-3.The win by Napanee broke a deadlock and gave the Raiders a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.
Napanee's offense rang up 45 shots on Amherstview's net.
Napanee additionally got points from Tyler Romain, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Justynn Steven, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Cullen Hinds, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Austin Boulard, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Napanee received assists from Matthew Muller, Michael Parr, Riley Steeves, Zack Revell, and Will Peirson, who each chipped in one and Brandon Major and Jordan Cannons, who contributed two each.
The Jets kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Paul Giusti made 28 saves on 32 shots.
Amherstview was led by Dawson Chard, who registered one goal and two assists. Chard scored 1:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstview. Alex Rice picked up the assist. Amherstview also got points from Dorian Overland, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Adam Alcorn and Jordan Howe, who scored one goal each. More assists for Amherstview came via Zach Maciel, who had two and Cody Jodoin and Cody Smith, who each chipped in one.
Napanee totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Boulard was ejected from the game. Ryan Kaszuba rejected 38 shots on goal for the Jets. Amherstview incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
