The Para PanAm Games took place in Toronto from August 7-14, 2015 and Skyward owner Shannon Morrison was there to be the lead therapist for sitting volleyball. With limited knowledge in the world of para sports Shannon was looking forward to a new experience with these elite athletes. The two weeks in Toronto surpassed her expectations in terms of the knowledge she gained working along side these tremendous individuals. Although the medical first responder knowledge was not needed (which is a good thing!), Shannon gained experience in the sports of both sitting volleyball and para swimming as they were at the same venue as well as improving her ability to organize a large group of therapists and doctors who came to volunteer every day. Shannon hopes she can work in para sports in the future as she learned what athletes can achieve regardless of the barriers in front of them and it is something that every one of us can use to push us further in life.
