Thunderbolt RHP is Among Best in League

The Mystic Schooners ran their record to 8-1 this season after doubling up the Keene Swamp Bats 4-2. Dartmouth’s Michael Concato was brilliant through seven innings last night and he earned his first win of the season as a result. Jason Foley (Sacred Heart) pitched a scoreless 9th inning and picked up the save for the Schooners.
The Newport Gulls kept the Danbury Westerners winless this season after winning a close 2-1 affair. Keith Weisenberg (Stanford) allowed one run over five innings and got the win for the Gulls. Brendan Spagnuolo (Vanderbilt) pitched a scoreless 9th inning and earned his 3rd save of the season. Shaniel Rivera (Vanguard) was saddled with the loss yesterday but he still threw seven quality innings for Danbury.
The Sanford Mainers scored four runs in the top of the 9th to down the North Adams SteepleCats 7-4. Chris Gaetano (Monmouth), Johnny Slater (Michigan) and Harrison Wenson (Michigan) all went deep for the Mainers last night. North Adams outfielder Michael Babb (Jacksonville) also hit a home run last night. Cody Dube (Keene State) pitched four scoreless, relief innings and picked up the win, while his teammate Iaanick Remillard (Canisius) earned the save last night.
The Pitcher of the Night is Mystic’s Michael Concato (Dartmouth). Michael earned the win yesterday after giving up two runs (one earned) in seven innings of work. He scattered five hits, walked just one and struck out ten batters in the game yesterday.
The Hitter of the Night is Harrison Wenson of the Mainers by way of the University of Michigan. Harrison hit his first home run of the season last night and also added a pair of singles for good measure. He scored two runs and drove in one for the Mainers as well.
