Nick Jensen-Clagg (Kent State) pitched 4.1 shutout innings last night and he was the winning pitcher for the Bourne Braves in their game against Brewster. University of Tennessee right-hander Hunter Martin allowed just one run in 5.1 innings for Brewster last night.
The Hyannis Harbor Hawks scored five runs in the final two innings last night to defeat the Cotuit Kettleers 7-3. Hyannis Harbor Hawk DH Jacob Noll (Florida Gulf Coast) went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs last night. Michael Young (Boston College) pitched five shutout innings to earn the win for the Harbor Hawks.
The Falmouth Commodores and the Wareham Gatemen were locked in a really nice pitcher’s duel yesterday that eventually saw Falmouth score one run to win the game. Wareham’s Zac Houston (Mississippi State) struck out 9 in five hitless innings of work. Alex Phillips (San Jacinto JC) threw five shutout innings for the Commodores. Holy Cross right-hander Sean Gustin threw two shutout innings for Falmouth and earned his first win of the season. Wyatt Short (Mississippi) picked up a two-inning save last night.
The Harwich Mariners downed the Chatham Anglers 4-3 yesterday, and Virginia Tech’s Luke Scherzer (Harwich) earned his third save of the season.
The Orleans Firebirds defeated the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox 5-1 last night. Kit Scheetz (Virginia Tech) was the winning pitcher last night after throwing two scoreless innings in relief. Bryson Brigman (San Diego) and Bobby Dalbec (Arizona) both went deep for the Firebirds yesterday. Dalbec now leads the league with four home runs this season. YD’s Donovan Walton (Oklahoma State) hit a double and a pair of singles in the loss for the Red Sox.
The Pitcher of the Night in the Cape Cod League is Zac Houston of the Wareham Gatemen by way of Mississippi State University. A 6-foot-5 inch right-hander, Zac no-hit the Falmouth Commodores over his five innings pitched last night. He allowed just one walk and he fanned nine batters in his start. He now has fanned 14 batters in 8 innings pitched this season.
The Hitter of the Night is Hyannis Harbor Hawk Jacob Noll (Florida Gulf Coast). In the win last night, Jacob hit his third double of the year to go along with a pair of singles. He also scored a run and drove in three for the Hawks. Jacob is now hitting .538 this season.
