Thunderbolt RHP is Among Best in League

The Okotoks Dawgs and the Edmonton Prospects were locked in a 0-0 game until the top of the 9th inning when Brian Sisler (Northern Illinois) smacked his second homer of the season for the Dawgs. Holden Lyons (Oklahoma City) was the winning pitcher for the Dawgs. He fanned two batters in two relief innings pitched. Okotoks Chris Horvath (Wayne State) threw six shutout innings and Edmonton’s Kyle Garvin (College of Idaho) threw eight shutout innings in yesterday’s game.
The Lethbridge Bulls now boast a record of 11-4 this season after downing Yorktown 5-2. Travis Steinke (Lethbridge—Arkansas Monticello) went 3-for-5 with a double (5th) last night. Pat Kelly (Prairie Baseball Academy) won his third game of the season for the Bulls last night. He allowed two runs in eight innings of work. He also fanned four and didn’t issue a walk. Jake Hansen (LSU-Shreveport) earned his first save of the season after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
The Moose Jaw Miller Express squeaked by the Melville Millionaires by the score of 4-3 last night. Tyler Franek (Moose Jaw--Garden City CC) was the winning pitcher and Chase Goldwater (Temple College) hit his third homer of the season for Melville.
The Regina Red Sox beat up on the struggling Swift Current Indians yesterday and won by the score of 8-2. Jordan Schulz (Minot State) hit a key double for the Red Sox yesterday. Regina’s Kendal Daniels (Taft College) pitched a scoreless inning last night and earned the win. He now has a 2.70 ERA this season.
The Pitcher of the Night is Kyle Garvin of the Edmonton Prospects by way of the College of Idaho. Even though he didn’t factor into the decision, the senior right-hander pitched a heck of a game. He didn’t allow a run in his eight innings of work. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out 5 batters as well in the start. He now has a record of 1-0 this season and has lowered his ERA to 2.59 in 17.1 innings pitched.
The Hitter of the Night from June 16th is Brian Sisler of the Okotoks Dawgs by way of Northern Illinois University. In addition to his big 9th inning homer yesterday, Brian also hit a single and walked once for the Dawgs. He is now hitting .346 in 52 at-bats this season.
