Prospect League Wrap Up from June 16th

In Prospect League action last night, the Jamestown Jammers picked up a win over the West Virginia Miners.  With the win yesterday, the Jammers now sport a record of 13-4 this season. The Butler BlueSox squeaked by the Champion City Kings yesterday. The Kings now have hit a rough stretch as they have lost six games in a row.  The Chillicothe Paints now have won 7 games in a row after shutting out the Danville Dans yesterday. The Kokamo Jackrabbits handed the Terre Haute Rex their second loss of the year last night and the Quincy Gems upended the Springfield Sliders by the score of 8-1.

The Pitcher of the Night in the Prospect League is Tanner Allison of the Chillicothe Paints by way of Western Michigan University.  A lefty from Portland, MI, Tanner earned his second win of the year last night. He threw five shutout innings against Danville and only surrendered one hit. He walked three and also struck out eight batters as well yesterday.  Tanner now is sporting a 2-0 record and he is third in the league with a 0.56 ERA.

The Hitter of the Night from June 16th is Chris Folinusz of the Kokamo Jackrabbits by way of Rutgers University. Chris is a 6-foot-4 inch catcher from Cranford, New Jersey. In the Jackrabbits win yesterday, Chris went 2-for-4 which included him hitting his second homer of the season. He scored a run, drove in three and also walked once last night. After starting this season out slow, Chris has now picked up at least one hit in three out of the last four games he’s played.

Prospect League quick hits from June 16th.

  • Jamestown’s Eric Solberg (UW Milwaukee) has been on fire as of late.  In his last seven games for the Jammers, Eric has gone 10-for-18 and now has upped his batting average on the season to .381.
  • Ryan Gaines (Birmingham Southern) of the Danville Dans now leads the league with 26 innings pitched after yesterday’s start. He has a record of just 0-2, but has posted a stellar 2.07 ERA for the Dans this season.
  • Derek Hendrixson (Heidelberg) earned his league-leading sixth save of the season for the Chillicothe Paints last night.
