Warriors Clinch Playoff Spot

Date:  Source: NAHL: Michigan Warriors

The Michigan Warriors went into their last series of the season, against the Soo Eagles only 3 points from the last playoff spot held by the Johnstown Tomahawks. In the beginning of March the Warriors were well out of playoff contention, but everything changed in March. The Warriors closed out the season as one of the hottest teams in the league winning 8 of their last 9 games, while  Johnstown struggled down the stretch, winning just 3 or their last 10 games.

Friday night the Warriors won in a shootout 4-3! They came back from a three goal deficit with goals from Dalton Skelly, Alex Berardinelli, and Ryan Sete. After overtime Tyler Groat scored the only goal in the shootout, winning the game for the Warriors! Chase Munroe was huge in net stopping 44 shots on the night, and stopping all 5 Eagles during the shootout keeping the Warriors in the game and gaining the victory!

Friday's victory along with a Johnstown loss brought the Warriors within 1 point of the final playoff spot in the North division.  To complete their improbable run and make it into the playoffs the Warriors would need a win or a loss in overtime along with a Johnstown loss in regulation to clinch a playoff berth.

The Warriors beat the odds and stole the last playoff spot in the North division from the Johnstown Tomahawks! They beat the Soo Eagles 2-1 in a shootout win, and Johnstown lost 2-5 to the Keystone Ice Miners! Garrison Sanipass scored the only goal for your Warriors in regulation, and Cam Jorgensen scored the only goal in the shootout. Chase Munroe picked up his 4th straight victory after stopping 31 shots on the night, and once again stopping all 5 Eagles during the shootout!
