Justin Interisano is staying home in the Royal City for 2014
Interisano who was named the Ontario University Athletic’s (OUA) Top Hitter last fall for the second consecutive season has signed with the Royals for 2014 ending speculation that he might be leaning towards playing ball overseas this season.
“Justin is on the verge of really establishing himself in the IBL as a leader of the next generation of players in the league and we’re elated he decided to stay home in a Royals uniform” said Royals Director of Baseball Operations Neil Srivastava.
With the Royals last season Intersiano batted .303 with 10 homers and drove in 29 runs splitting his time at catcher and first base
Last Fall at the University of Guelph he lead the OUA batting .529 adding six homers ( 2nd in the OUA) and driving in 22 runs (5th in the OUA) and was also named to the OUA’s All Star team as a catcher.
The Royals are set to begin their winter workouts in the next few weeks before their season opener on Sunday May 11th at Barrie. Their Home opener is slated for Victoria Day Monday May 19th vs. the Kitchener Panthers at 1 pm
