(MISSISSAUGA, ON - ) "I'm already working out and getting in shape. I want to come into training camp in the best shape of my life". Words from a fired up and motivated Bol Kong. The former Gonzaga and St. Francis Xavier star made Vancouver his hometown and was selected 4th overall by the Mississauga Power in 2013 NBL Canada Draft. When asked about how we will contribute to the Power Team, Kong said "I can do a bit of everything. Scoring, shooting, tough defense". The Power will need the 6'8 forward's versatility and he will be leading the charge as the Power transition from Oshawa to Mississauga. The Power will play their home opener on November 5th against the Brampton A's and it seems the team is already building chemistry. "My teammates all seem like really cool guys. I've only known them for less than 24 hours and I'm already getting great vibes from them." said Kong, after spending a couple of hours with his new teammates after the draft.

Also formally announced at the Draft, The Mississauga Power have announced that they have traded guard Papa Oppong to the Windsor Express in exchange for the 18th pick in the 2013 NBL Canada draft. Oppong was recently accepted into Ontario College of Teachers at the University of Windsor, and approached the Power front office with aspirations of pursuing his post graduate education.  “When you have an opportunity to help out a young man that is looking to further his education, you do anything you can to support him” says VP of Operations John Wiggins.  “We came to an agreement with The Windsor Team, that was mutually beneficial for them, Papa, and the Power organization.  We are all satisfied with the outcome, and wish Papa all the best in Windsor, both on court and in the classroom.”  The Power used the 18th pick to select Forward Marcus James from Sam Houston State.

Oppong was acquired by the Oshawa Power midway through the inaugural NBL Canada season. Oppong played a solid role for the team in his first year but really blossomed into a solid player in his second year with the Power. "The organization treated me with nothing but professionalism and really gave me a chance after Halifax let me go", said Oppong. The Toronto native played 49 career games with the Power, averaging 11.1ppg, 4.6rpg & 2.1apg. Oppong's best game came against the Montreal Jazz on January 25, 2013. He led the team to a 131-114 win over Montreal by contributing 29 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 3 pointers.  As a Durham Region fan favorite, Oppong leaves the Power organization as the All-time leader in minutes played and steals.  Oppong will commence the school in Windsor this September, as well as continue his professional basketball career with the Express in November. Oppong spoke about his opportunity: "They really didn't have to do that. The Power are a great organization that gave me a chance to pursue a career outside of basketball and I really appreciate that."
