(Mississauga, ON) – The Mississauga Power Basketball team held their first ever press conference on their home court inside the Hershey Centre.  Over 80 guests and associates attended the unveiling of the team’s new logo, and were introduced to team President Henry Chow.  Paul Jones of NBA TV Canada was on hand to host and lend his support of the franchise’s new initiative.  “There's a lot of talent here!  It's akin to pro leagues in other parts of the world, there's no question about it”.

To officially welcome the Power to Mississauga was the honorable Mayor Hazel McCallion, who expressed her enthusiasm and delight for having the National Basketball League of Canada bring this exciting basketball team to the city.  McCallion proclaimed "I believe this team will bring a lot of excitement to the citizens of Mississauga.  I welcome it, I wish it every bit of success and I want to guarantee you that the staff at the Hershey Centre and the City of Mississauga will work with the team to make sure that this beautiful facility is filled with fans."

Mr. Chow addressed the forum by expressing his anxiousness to get out into the community and establish Power Basketball as a community partner and leader.  "I'm so glad to be here to announce the relocation of our franchise to Mississauga.  The (NBLC) is the only professional basketball league in Canada and it's beginning to grow. Now, there are a total of 10 teams and growing. I hope it can cover even more cities so that all Canadians can enjoy this wonderful game."  Mr Chow also announced that ticket pricing will be released and available as early as June 1st at affordable packages to encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the show.

Also announced were a few newly formed partnerships that support the Power’s commitment to providing opportunities to the members of the community.  The Power has team up with The Sports Clinic at the University of Toronto-Mississauga and Sheridan College to provide students with real-life experiences working with a professional sports organization.  The Power has also connected with Mega City Basketball to launch a professional-amateur men’s league this summer, affording current and aspiring professional athletes an environment where they can develop and grow their basketball careers.
