Memorial Day Tournament History

In 2000, before the tournament circuit started, Headfirst Baseball created the Memorial Day Tournament.

The idea was to recruit top talent from all over the Bay Area onto teams and play a tournament. It has been a great success and players look forward to it every year. Players are recruited by Headfirst or nominated by other coaches that are sure they can play at this level. The tournament also includes a Home Run Derby, which is always a favorite.

After a list of players are compiled and registered, Headfirst will draft players onto teams making them as even as possible. Teams will be coached by Headfirst Staff.

Many former players of Memorial Day Tournaments are now playing college/professional baseball including Mariners infielder Miles Mastrobuoni and Phil Evans, who spent 3 years in the MLB. As a 12U player, Phil threw 78 mph and hit a ball on top of the school!

There are also awards for the Championship team, 1st Place Team, All Tournament Team, Home Run Derby Winner, Most Exciting Player, and the MVP.
