HESPELER (Jan. 19) -- The Glanbrook Rangers missed an opportunity to take sole possession of first place in the Bloomfield Division, as they squandered a two-goal lead and finished with a 3-3 draw with the Hespeler Shamrocks.

The race for the Bloomfield crown couldn't be any tighter, as the Rangers, Grimsby Peach Kings and Hagersville Hawks are all knotted up with 57 points apiece.  The Peach Kings and Hawks have one more game remaining than the Rangers.

For Glanbrook, it was their third tie in their last four games, and their second straight against the Shamrocks, who sit in fifth spot in the Bloomfield Division. The Rangers are now 3-0-0-2 against Hespeler, with one game remaining in their season showdown, the 2020 finale on Jan. 29 at Glanbrook.

The Rangers, in this contest, fell behind 1-0 after the first period, but struck for three unanswered goals -- Noah Matteson's 27th and 28th of the season and Noah Baltzer's seventh of the year and third in the last two games -- to go up 3-1 midway through the third.  However, Devin Schneider capitalized on a Shamrocks power play at 11:43 and Nick Donelle deadlocked the match just over three minutes later.

Glanbrook had four shots in the overtime, but were unable to connect.  Mitch Robinson turned in a 45-save effort in earning the draw.  His record now stands at 10-5-2.

NOTES: Matteson has been on a hot streak, recording 15 points in his past 10 games and has now climbed to within one point of team leader Noah Bollert.  Matteson has 55 points (28 goals, 27 assists) to Bollert's 56 (33 goals, 23 assists).
