PORT DOVER (Jan. 5) -- Glanbrook centre Noah Bollert (pictured) vaulted back into the PJHL goal-scoring lead with a three-goal performance in leading the Rangers to a 4-1 victory over the Port Dover Sailors. Bollert now has 32 goals on the season, one better than Jake Luke of Norwich. It was the seventh multi-goal game of the year for the 20-year-old Hamilton native, and the third time he has scored at least three goals.
The Rangers finished off their season series against the Sailors with a perfect 6-0 record, scoring 29 goals while allowing just nine. In this contest, the teams battled through a scoreless first period before Bollert connected with his first marker at 3:30 of the second period. Port Dover's Nicholas dAgostino equalized on a power play at 13:41, but Noah Matteson's 24th goal at 14:35 took the lead back for good.
Bollert, whose goal production had fallen off in recent games, with just two in his last eight outings, added a short-handed goal just before the second period ended, and finished off his hat trick at 16:35 of the third stanza. Bollert also picked up an assist on Matteson's goal, giving him 53 points, tops in the South Bloomfield Division and tied for ninth-best in the league.
Rangers' goaltender Matt Lukic, meanwhile, also claimed his spot among the PJHL's elite with his 16th win, second best in the loop. He made 31 saves in earning the victory and lowered his goals-against average to a stingy 1.80, again best in the Bloomfield Division.
NOTES: Bollert's short-handed goal was Glanbrook's eighth of the season ... Matteson added two assists to bring his season's point total to 49, while winger Connor McQuhae continued his recent hot run with three assists, giving him 13 points in his last seven games. McQuhae, however, saw his five-game goal-scoring streak come to a halt.
