DUNNVILLE (Dec. 27) -- The Glanbrook Rangers closed out the decade on a disappointing note as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Dunnville Mudcats. The loss ended Glanbrook's eight-game winning streak and left them three points behind the Grimsby Peach Kings in the race for first place in the South Bloomfield Division.
The Rangers bombarded Dunnville goaltender Austin Davison with 45 shots while holding the Mudcats to only 22 in return. But the only goal the Rangers could muster was by Connor McQuhae (pictured), his 13th of the season, at 17:51 of the first period. The Mudcats got goals from Matt Dolan on a first-period power play, and Noah Borden at 4:57 of the second period, then held on under the onslaught to record their second victory of the season over Glanbrook.
The Rangers completed their season series against the Mudcats with a 4-2 mark, scoring 29 goals while allowing 13. Mitch Robinson made 20 saves in a losing cause for Glanbrook. The Rangers will head into the 10-game stretch run to the playoffs when their season resumes in the new year on Thursday, Jan. 2 against the Dundas Blues at Market Street Arena (7:30 p.m.)
